Anne's Haven ~ Women's Incubator and Community Peace Center

"The potential for peace and opportunities to build peace are ever-present in our communities. We just have to learn to recognize them."

Our Peace Education Programs

Our 5 Pillars of Peace Education:

Rooted in the conviction above, our peace education programs are centered around 5 pillars, each program focused on at least one pillar:

  • Inner Peace: Recognizing that the foundation of societal peace is personal peace and healing, we host workshops and classes including yoga, mindfulness meditation, mind mapping, and much more! We are particularly focused on promoting women entrepreneurs in the healing arts who are promoting unique, effective approaches to building inner peace but don’t have financial means or the opportunity to bring their classes/seminars to the public.
  • Youth Programming: Our youth peace education programs foster young people’s awareness of the peacebuilding discipline and build important skills like dialogue, mediation, and nonviolent communication, while encouraging youth to think more creatively about peacebuilding and be more committed to public service. We are helping inspire the leaders of tomorrow to become conscientious about the role they can play in creating a peaceful, just society in both their everyday lives and their careers, and act accordingly!
  • Adult Programming: Our adult peace education programs are focused on enhancing adults' awareness of the peacebuilding field and strengthening their peacebuilding skills through workshops and gatherings to build trust and foster dialogue across racial, ethnic, religious, and political differences.
  • Peace Activism: We provide space for workshops and seminars- hosted by Anne's Haven and other organizations and movements- to promote collective action for peace and justice in our communities.
  • Community-Based Coalition Building: Our programming also focuses on uniting local schools, media organizations, businesses, houses of worship, and more to raise awareness of our programs and how they can get involved in community efforts to build peace and also learn about their ideas for community peacebuilding.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to Jacopo DeMarinis, the Director of our Peace Education programs, if you have any ideas about possible peace education programs or would like to collaborate or partner with Anne's Haven on one of our current peace education programs. Current Peace Education Programs

Our current peace education programs, categorized according to the pillar they fall under, include:

Inner Peace:

1. "Yoga with Cheryl" to promote physical well-being,

healing and personal awareness, and inner peace

2. "Our Gathering of Moms," which provides a space for

overwhelmed moms to promote personal healing and find

balance in their lives through mutual support and

empowerment.

3.  Our "Moon Dance" sessions allow participants to find

inner peace and promote self-healing through movement

     and meditation.

Youth Programs:

1. "Community Service 2.0," our high school program

focused on introducing students to peacebuilding and

community development while building key leadership,

communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills.

The capstone of the program is creating a community service

project in collaboration with community members.

2. The "Peace Project," our fun and educational youth program

for 9–14-year-olds this August, which will equip children with

valuable peacebuilding skills while giving them the opportunity to

make new friends and explore their own ideas about peace.

Adult Programs:

1. Our "Interfaith Gatherings" provide safe, inclusive space

for people of diverse religious, spiritual, and cultural

backgrounds to meet, learn about each other, build trust, and

engage in respectful dialogue about different topics.

We are currently working on developing our Peace Activism and Coalition Building Programs... more to come!
